ANTHEM “Ancient Words”
SCRIPTURE & SERMON Rev. Steve
Abundant Life:Holy Conversations| Matthew 12:33-37 (ESV); Psalm 142:1,5; Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:11; Proverbs 13:3; Proverbs 29:11
Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit. You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgement people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
Matthew 12:33-37 (ESV)
Three Main Areas of Conversation:
1). Our Conversation with God
I pour out my complaint before him; I tell my trouble before him.
You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.
2). Our Conversation with Ourself
This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
3). Our Conversation with Others
The one who guards his mouth protects his life.
A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.
