St. Paul United Methodist Church is thrilled to announce the arrival of Rev. Ruby Moultrie, our new Associate Pastor, who is bringing her unique background and unwavering commitment to our congregation. Rev. Ruby Moultrie joins us with a compelling journey and a profound dedication to serving God’s children.
A Divine Calling to St. Paul
Rev. Moultrie’s path to St. Paul began with the unexpected disaffiliation of the church she pastored in Levelland, TX. Her journey took a decisive turn when District Superintendent Rev. Felicia Hopkins introduced the possibility of joining St. Paul as an Associate Member. After thoughtful discussions and a heart-to-heart meeting with Rev. Benji Van Fleet, it became clear that Ruby was meant to be a part of the St. Paul family and its affiliated Wesley Covenant/Community Groups.
A Journey Through Music and Ministry
Rev. Ruby brings a wealth of experience to her role at St. Paul. Her academic journey commenced at West Texas State University, where she majored in music with the intent of sharing the joy of music with others. This path led her to teach in Dimmitt, TX, before she was beckoned to pursue her Masters in Sacred Music and Vocal Performance at SMU, where she received a full scholarship.
While at SMU, Ruby took on the role of Choir Director at a South Dallas church and began teaching voice in Plano, TX. Her journey then led her to Estacado High School, where she taught for four years. Subsequently, she served as a voice instructor at South Plains College for over two decades.
In 1996, a pivotal moment occurred during a spiritual retreat called the Walk to Emmaus, where Moultrie felt God’s call to ministry. Despite initial reservations, she embarked on a path to become a Local Pastor, embracing God’s guidance and love for His children.
A Heart for Community and Ministry Beyond Walls
At St. Paul, Rev. Ruby enjoys the opportunity to work with the church’s Solomon’s Porch and engage with the local community. She appreciates the warmth of the people at St. Paul and is eagerly looking forward to deepening her connections as the fall season approaches. Ruby believes that much of her ministry will extend beyond the church walls, encompassing Abilene, Clyde, Haskell, Throckmorton, Munday, and beyond.
A Family of Faith and Love
Coming from a family of five children, Ruby was raised in the nurturing environment of St. Mark Methodist Church in Pampa, TX. Her deep-rooted love for music began at an early age, as she started singing in church at the tender age of three. She considers the individuals she has encountered throughout her teaching and ministry as her extended family. Ruby is proud to be the Aunt of two boys and the great Aunt of a precious young lady, even if distance keeps them apart.
She embraces her divine calling to simply love God’s children, which has become the cornerstone of her life’s purpose.
A Passion for Writing and More
Rev. Moultrie dedicates her free time to various pursuits. Her journey includes authoring a book as per God’s calling in 2018. She enjoys reading, knitting, and even line dancing when her knees allow it! However, her recent knee replacement surgery has prompted her to prioritize rest when she does find a moment of respite.
St. Paul United Methodist Church is honored to welcome Rev. Ruby Moultrie to our family. Her diverse experiences, unwavering faith, and deep love for God’s children make her a cherished addition to our congregation. We look forward to the exciting journey ahead as we grow together in faith and community.
