What is Baptism? When you hear that word, you usually think of it as a Christian thing. No matter what religion you are (except atheists), you go through some sort of baptism. Baptism is a right of passage for Christians. Even if you believe in Allah or Zeus, there is some kind of baptism in your faith. Baptism is accepting the Holy Trinity.
I chose this topic because of the message and what it stands for. That for a few moment, the Holy Spirit washes through you making you clean and pure. That is pretty special. If you are a part of any religion and you convert to Christianity, getting baptized is saying your repent your sins. It’s a right of passage. Getting baptized is truly becoming a Christian. The Bible basically says its cleaner for your soul, but you only have to do it once. God forgives your sins as soon as you ask for it, but sometimes you need to forgive yourself for your sins. Getting baptized is like saying you’re sorry and you repent. Ken Ham shares that after you get baptized, there are standards and expectations that Christians have to uphold. When you get baptized there is no going back. You gave your life to the Lord. Jesus died for you and you need to earn it.
There are certain rules and standards you need to follow like no drugs, no underage drinking, no cursing, and be kind. If you do these things and get baptized and keep doing it, you’re basically saying you don’t care about God. Would you rather have fun now and suffer later, or suffer now and have fun later? What he means is do you want to party and go to Hell or follow Jesus and go to Heaven? There are three main ways to get baptized – over your head, your whole head or your whole body. At Aldersgate, they did over the head. Getting baptized was a huge deal. It’s a whole process to make sure you’re ready. I love that idea so that you don’t get baptized on impulse and regret it.
